¡Gradúate! Student Wins 1st Place in the “Stay in School” Video Contest
On Tuesday, April 4, high school student and ¡Gradúate! Program participant, Melvin Rubi, was awarded $500.00 for his video entry to the “Stay in School” video contest. His outstanding video encouraged his peers to graduate high school and pursue college in an exciting and entertaining way. In addition to this cash prize, his video will be aired later this year on the TV Hispanic Station Univision 40.
NCSHP Director, Neyra Toledo presented the $500.00 check to Melvin and congratulated him on his excellent contest entry and the inspiring message that it shared to his fellow Hispanic students.
Also in attendance, assistant principal, Sebastian Shipp recognized Melvin’s accomplishments and encouraged the students to take hold of the opportunities around them.
Finally, Melvin shared that his inspiration for the video was to inspire his fellow Latino students to defy traditional stereotypes, and pursue higher education.
