NC Museum of History, Posted August 17th, 2016 –

Become a volunteer docent at the N.C. Museum of History, a Smithsonian Affiliate, in Raleigh. At the third most-visited history museum in the nation, you can interact with people from around the world. Enjoy sharing fascinating stories about the people, places and events that have shaped the Tar Heel State.

Docents provide invaluable learning experiences for children and adults. They guide tours of award-winning exhibits, interpret touch items on gallery Spotlight Carts, and assist with exciting festivals and educational programs. Additionally, volunteers enjoy benefits such as field trips to historic sites, dinner programs, and an annual appreciation reception.   If you are interested in becoming a museum docent, register for an interview by Friday, Sept. 9. To register, contact Debra Nichols, Volunteer and Group Programs Coordinator, at 919-807-7986. For details about the docent program, go to ncmuseumofhistory.org/support-us/volunteer.

Make a Wish Foundation, Posted July 16th, 2016 –

Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina is seeking bilingual (Spanish/English) volunteers to help them grant wishes. The role of the Wish Granter is to make the wishes of our wish children come true through creativity and imagination. Wish Granters visit the family and interview the wish child with the intent to determine the child’s wish and obtain required paperwork from the parents/legal guardians. This position requires excellent people skills, sensitivity and dependability. Wish Granters have the privilege of seeing first-hand a child’s most cherished dream become a reality. It is the most special and intimate way to volunteer. It can be very life changing for everyone involved. We hope you consider helping us make wishes come true! Please contact Julie Berry at jberry@eastnc.wish.org or 919-821-7111 for more information.
