The NCSHP is a non-profit organization driven by our volunteer base. Individuals passionate about Latino Education, supporting the community, and giving back!

 

We do our best to match the volunteer’s interest, skills, and availability with our opportunities and provide training/support to our volunteers (as needed). We deeply appreciate your time invested in supporting our mission!

By signing Up, you will receive information about upcoming meetings, events, or activities where we need volunteer’s support for the area that you have selected. A few hours of your time can make educational dreams come true in the lives of Hispanic youth!

OPportunities

Community Outreach / NCSHP Booth

The NCSHP participates in educational fairs and community festivals throughout the year to provide educational information/resources to students and families.  This opportunity is for volunteers who enjoy engaging with people and outreaching the community.  You will receive general training about becoming a community outreach volunteer!

STEM Promoters Group

Promote TuPortalSTEM and our STEM initiative at booths in different events to raise awareness and increase access to information of STEM education and future careers, among Hispanic students and their families! Share your story and experience as a STEM professional and inspire upcoming generations! This opportunity is open to STEM professionals or adults with a passion for this field.

Membership Committee

By our 20th Anniversary… we want to be 1,000 members strong! Help us reach that goal! We are looking for individuals that are passionate about our mission and want to engage others to join the Society! This committee meets quarterly to establish recruitment strategies and organize networking “Meet & Greets”.  Also, membership committee volunteers welcome new members and help the NCSHP develop meaningful stewardship practices among members.

Event Volunteers

NCSHP events run with the support of dedicated on-site volunteers! Event dates are scheduled ahead of time and volunteer roles are varied/flexible.  Some of our annual events include: Hispanic Educational Summit“Mi Éxito, la Universidad” Hispanic Educational Fair, and Latino Education Celebration. Have a little extra time and enjoy coordinating? You may also join the planning committees for the events! This opportunity is for anyone who wants to give back!

¡Gradúate! Program Tutors: Grades 9 through 12

We are seeking volunteers to participate as tutors to Hispanic/Latino students high school during the school year. Volunteers in will offer one-to-one tutoring to help Hispanic students in various school subjects, as well as provide guidance and support in general.  We are specifically seeking tutors for our ¡Gradúate! Program.  This program is delivered in Cary HS, Millbrook HS, and Southeast Raleigh Magnet HS.

NCHCF Scholarship Reviewers

Join a group of responsible and committed reviewers to help us select our yearly North Carolina Hispanic College Fund (NCHCF) scholarship, recipients!  The review process happens yearly in January – February and is a time commitment of around 10 hours. You will also be required to participate in a Scholarship Selection Meeting which is usually held on the third Saturday of February, from 9am-12md.  Volunteers with a background in education are preferred.

Inspirational Speakers Group

We are seeking motivated Hispanic professionals to visit local schools and deliver presentations and/or share their education journey and professional experience with the students. Members should have experience working with children or presenting to large groups. We are specifically seeking inspirational speakers for our ¡Gradúate! Program, but we have additional speaking opportunities available.

Fundraising 

The NCSHP’s programs exist thanks to the support of our corporate sponsors and funders! We are seeking a group of people to help with grant writing and fundraising. This group meets several times a year to update on progress and to brainstorm new fundraising opportunities.
